The landscaping for this project was completed in two stages. The first stage involved a complete strip out of the original backyard. The backyard was excavated to create a large level lawn area, with retaining walls constructed for garden beds. Recycled bricks were used for the paving, steps and brick edging.

A large block wall dominated the backyard. This was squared up and rendered and made into a feature with a ficus creeper growing on the wall and deciduous ornamental pear trees planted in front. Lower level planting included a buxus hedge and star jasmine spilling over the retaining wall. Agaves, dwarf agapanthus, port wine magnolias and lilli pillis also featured in adjacent garden beds.

The client also requested an L-shaped, two-tiered water feature with spill over. Custom made metal grates were placed inside the water feature for safety for young children, and obscured with water lilies.

The second stage of the project occurred 18 months later and involved landscaping the front yard. A new driveway was constructed with recycled brick pavers over a concrete slab, laid in a herring-bone pattern. Multiple sets of steps to different areas were constructed with matching brick steps. The front yard garden was completely stripped and levelled. Garden beds were created with timber sleepers and timber edging. Planting included ornamental pear trees, lilli pillis, liriope, buxus and a frangipani planted in the corner.
