The clients wanted to upgrade certain elements of their traditional cottage style garden to make it more accessible to foot traffic. The upgrades were designed by local Landscape Architect, Hortus.

The existing front paved path was replaced with even-surfaced sandstone stepping stones, softened with turf in between. The driveway was re-laid using the original brick pavers over a concrete slab to increase its longevity and create a more even surface.

In the backyard, the tired brick paving was replaced with fresh white sandstone paving in a traditional french-pattern to compliment the style of the house. Some of the damaged brick retaining walls were re-built, and the steps to access the backyard were re-built and cladded with the same sandstone paving to match. The original ground-level vegetable gardens were replaced with two raised garden beds made from hardwood sleepers.

The existing irrigation system was serviced and upgraded to suit changes in the garden, as well as adding a new automated controller with a rain sensor.
